Intracytoplasmic Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection (IMSI)

IMSI is one method of sperm selection. Thanks to this method, it is possible, with the use of a microscope, to select the best-shaped sperm. Extreme magnification, using a special lens on a microscope, is used to properly evaluate sperm shape. Amongst the enlarged sperm, those that have a suitable body structure—a well-formed tail, neck, and head—are sought. The best-formed sperm are used for fertilization.
