Magnetic-activated Cell Sorting (MACS)
One method of sperm selection is called MAX. This technique uses magnifying particles to bind low-quality sperm to each other. The human body has a system for the disposal of inappropriate cells, and MAX takes advantage of this system in the selection of quality sperm. To remove poor-quality sperm, magnetic particles are used, which bind to a special marker on the surface of the sperm.
With the action of a powerful magnet, only healthy sperm with the best chance of fertilization are left in the sample and used for fertilization.
